1916 – 2011
Sheikh Abdul-Bāqī Muhammed, popularly known as Oluko Agba, belonged to a distinguished lineage deeply rooted in Islamic scholarship and community leadership in Iwo, present-day Osun State, Nigeria.
Sheikh Abdul-Bāqī Muhammed was born on a Monday in 1916 (1336 A.H.), during the reign of Oba Oluwo Abimbola I, in the compound of Ile Ajigbagun, Molete, Iwo.
Iwo, at the time, stood as one of the foremost centers of Islamic learning in southwestern Nigeria. Sheikh Abdul-Bāqī immersed himself in the systematic study of Islamic sciences.
Sheikh Abdul-Bāqī Muhammed passed away on 25 July 2011, at the age of 101, shortly after performing the dawn prayer.
